Call for Submissions:

31 October - 12 December 2025

Apply by 5pm on Saturday 20th September

Unseen is a community art exhibition exploring themes of the hidden, unnoticed, overlooked and untold.

Curated by Millie is partnering with Open School Creative (OSC) at TOSH to bring an open call exhibition to Boscombe.

About the exhibition

Selected artworks will be exhibited throughout TOSH’s Grade II listed building in Boscombe.

The exhibition will run from Friday 31st October until Friday 12th December 2025, including an opening night on Thursday 30th October, and an open day on Saturday 1st November.

We plan to facilitate the sale of artwork throughout the exhibition (at the discretion of each artist) and no commission will be taken. So, with TOSH’s busy workshop and event programme, this is a great opportunity to get your work seen, and maybe even sold.

About TOSH

TOSH is a creative community space based in a Grade II listed building in the centre of Boscombe. Through their programme of community workshops and gatherings, they bring diverse people together in a safe, supportive space. When you hire their non-profit, you invest in their community mission.

About Open School Creative

Open School Creative (OSC) is a collaboration between TOSH and BEAF Arts Co to support their community of artists and their development at all stages. Based in Boscombe and online, OSC programmes workshops, show and tell nights, artist talks, courses, funding support, events and more. The programme exists for artists interested in skill building, collaboration and community.

About the exhibition theme

With TOSH’s ongoing commitment to platforming outsider art and overlooked voices, we are inviting submissions that respond to the theme “Unseen”.

This might be work that explores your own experience of feeling unseen, or that tells the story of someone else - those whose lives, contributions or identities are often ignored, unheard or untold.

You might choose to highlight the things that quietly slip under the radar in our daily lives. Or you could take the theme literally by submitting a piece that has never been shown before - something hidden away in your studio, your home, or even under your bed.

Your submission

It is completely free to submit your work! Please fill out this form by 5pm on Saturday 20th September 2025.

We are accepting 2D wall-based work and 3D sculptural work. All works must be an original creation by the artist and works made by AI will not be considered.

Please read the below guidelines before submitting:

2D wall-based work:

  • Work must be no larger than 100cm x 100cm.

  • All work must arrive exhibition-ready in a frame with two D hooks on the back to allow us to display the work from TOSH’s hanging system.

3D work:

Due to the nature of the venue, all 3D artwork will be displayed inside shelving units. Please ensure your work is no larger than the dimensions below:

  • Small - 35cm (w) x 35cm (h) // 40cm (w) x 40cm (h)

  • Medium - 60cm (w) x 40cm (h)

  • Large - 30cm (w) x 135cm (h) // 85cm (w) x 35cm (h)

We recognise this may feel prescriptive, but we will not be able to select any 3D work that does not fit inside one of these spaces. Please contact me if you would like further details on the display structures for 3D work.

Eligibility: Please note that submissions are only open to artists that live or have a studio in a BH postcode.

Submissions will close at 5pm on Saturday 20th September so make sure you apply before then! We will get back to all artists by Sunday 5th October.
